BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Flood Warning by the NWS-Buffalo office for Tonawanda Creek, especially in south Lockport, around the hamlet known as Rapids, was canceled a little before 7pm this evening. It was in effect until 9pm Monday evening.
For Tonawanda Creek, the flood level is 12 feet. The creek was at 12.5 feet Monday late afternoon and was expected to fall below flood stage by mid evening, which it has. Monday mid evening the stage was 11.8 feet and falling.
Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. Water levels will continue to slowly fall tonight and is expected to fall below 10.0 feet
Tuesday morning.
At flood stage, lowland flooding can occur in farm areas along Tonawanda Creek between Rapids and the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. Flooding may impact Fletcher, Koepsel, Burdick, Kirby, and Tonawanda Creek Roads.
