Stray snow showers possible for parts of WNY

Winter weather alerts for Friday have expired.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lake effect snow is winding down. Between 3 to 5 inches has fallen within the area that was previously advised. And while a stray lake snow shower is possible for the rest of Friday, the winter weather impacts and hazards are over.

And Friday could be the coldest day of this week with a partly to mostly cloudy sky, northwesterly breeze and temperatures only in the low 40s in the afternoon. Wind chills with this breeze will stay in the 30s throughout the day.

Most of the lake effect snow should come to and end by mid-day today, but in it's wake will be around 3 to 6 inches of snow for those who were under those bands. Anticipate snow covered or slippery roads for the morning commute Friday.
