BUFFALO, N.Y. — Westerly winds remained sustained at 15 to 25 mph with scattered gusts of 30 mph. The fast-moving storm system that brought the winds is quickly moving away and that will allow winds to keep weakening Monday evening.
Peak wind gusts late Monday morning reached 53 mph in downtown Buffalo, 57 mph on the Skyway and 48 mph at the Buffalo Airport. A gust to 54 mph was reported in Warsaw in Wyoming County. Most other reporting stations throughout Western New York measured gusts ranging between 40 and 50 mph.
Anyone traveling should continue to use extra precautions if you plan on driving in a high-profile vehicle tonight through tomorrow morning as scattered gusts to 25 mph are still possible.
