Frost expected for parts of WNY Thursday, Freeze Watch issued for N. PA

Temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30s, even upper 20s for N. PA.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Don't put your jacket away just yet.

After a beautiful and warm day Tuesday, much cooler air will move in from Canada.

Cooler spots of the Southern Tier could wake up to patchy frost Wednesday morning. Highs will drop to the low 50s on Wednesday. It will be even colder on Wednesday night.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for McKean and Potter counties in N. PA from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning.  Lows will drop down to the upper 20s, which could damage crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Lows for Thursday morning are expected to drop to the low 30s for most areas in WNY and cause widespread frost for our area. Valleys of the Southern Tier could be dealing with a possible freeze with lows in the upper 20s.  Be ready to protect any outdoor sensitive plants or vegetation, if needed.

Stay tuned to WGRZ for updates and for any additional weather alerts that may need to be issued.

A mostly dry week is expected, with rain then moving in for part of this weekend. Right now it appears the greatest chance for rain will be overnight Friday night and into Saturday.  Showers may linger into Saturday night.

Sunday appears to be beautiful with sunshine and mid-60s!
