BUFFALO, N.Y. — Parts of Western New York experienced heavy snowfall overnight Monday, making travel very difficult.
In result, several municipalities issued travel advisories early Monday morning. All of the advisories have since expired.
During the peek of the storm, a travel ban had been issued for Niagara County. Meanwhile, travel advisories were issued for many towns/villages in Erie County. Some of the affected areas included the City of Buffalo, Clarence, Lancaster, Amherst, Tonawanda and other areas.
During the storm, several municipalities were asking everyone to stay off the roadways if possible so road crews could plow.
The Winter Storm Warning expired Monday evening. Instead, a Winter Weather Advisory was put into effect for Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and southern Erie counties until 10 a.m. Tuesday with additional snow totals of 2 to 4 inches expected.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph could also lead to heavily reduced visibility from blowing snow. Snow drifts and snow covered roads could be a threat to drivers throughout the advisory.
