BUFFALO, N.Y. — As this Sunday's storm ripped through the region with strong, potentially damaging winds, Western New York communities dealt with power outages.
The high winds brought trees limbs and power lines down.
At the storm's worst, more than 35,000 customers were without power across Western New York
As of 12:20pm, there are still about 7,300 National Grid customers without power. They are scattered throughout WNY. According to National Grid's website, most customers could see their power restored later today.
As for NYSEG customers, there are still nearly 9,800 customers without power, mostly in Erie County.
Erie County will be distributing dry ice and bottled water to anyone who needs it at the JFK Recreation Center in Buffalo from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m. Monday.
The power outages are also causing some school closures, both for in-person and remote students. You can check the full list of school closings here.
Drivers should use caution, as NITTEC is reporting various road closures related to utility repairs during the storm. Some of these closures have been reported on routes 16, 93, 430 and 78.
According to National Grid and NYSEG, as of 6:30 a.m. Monday outages are:
In Erie County, out of the 283,574 National Grid customers, 4,559 are currently impacted by the outages. Of the 153,493 NYSEG customers, 11,037 are without power.
Chautauqua County, out of the 41,252 National Grid customers, 2,368 are currently impacted by the outages. Of the 5,200 NYSEG customers, 636 are without power.
In Niagara County, out of the 83,014 National Grid customers, 1,303 are currently impacted by the outages. Of the 20,105 NYSEG customers,
354 are without power.
In Cattaraugus County, out of the 31,871 customers there, National Grid reports 916 customers impacted. Of the 4,605 NYSEG customers, 1,231 are without power.
In Orleans County, there are 19,552 customers, where 199 are experiencing outages.
In Genesee County, where there are 27,058 customers, 13 are experiencing outages.
In Allegany County, there are 219 customers experiencing outages out of 7,082 customers served. Of the 4,095 NYSEG customers, 39 are without power.
In Wyoming County, there are less than 40 customers without power between both NYSEG and National grid.
