CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — There was a rodeo in Western New York on Wednesday ... the snow rodeo, that is.
The 56th annual Snow Symposium was held Wednesday at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga.
Snowplow drivers from all across the country come here to show off their skills and vote on the world's best snow plow driver. Drivers compete against one another with an obstacle course.
Buffalo is the chosen location because of its history with snow.
"We come to Buffalo because it's the headquarters of snow. And just like these guys and girls behind us, the definition of Buffalo .... when the storms coming at them ... they run right into it. Just like my snow fighters across the country, they run right into the storm," said James Moorhead, chairman of the Aviation Snow Symposium.
Those who participate are judged by their safety skills and how well they are prepared.
