BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Lake Effect Snow that brought whiteout conditions making travel on some Western New York roadways nearly impossible is ending.
And so are the travel bans.
There is currently a Travel Advisory still in place for all of Erie County, some parts of Niagara County and South Buffalo.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz shared an announcement on X saying that the travel advisory will stay in place as lake effect snow continued through 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Western New York Commercial Vehicle Ban has been lifted at 8:30 a.m. that was in effect for the New York State Thruway (I-90) from exit 46 (Rochester – Corning - I-390) to the Pennsylvania State Line and on the Niagara Thruway (I-190) between I-90 and the North Grand Island Bridge.
The Skyway in Buffalo is now open again.
