Tornado leaves behind damage, debris in West Falls

The storm reached winds of up to 110 mph and lasted about five minutes.

WEST FALLS, N.Y. — The National Weather Service confirmed a fourth tornado touched down in West Falls at 12:59 p.m. Thursday.

The storm reached winds of up to 110 mph and lasted about five minutes. However, that's all the time it needed to leave piles of downed trees and debris spanning from where it started in Aurora, near West Falls and where it ended, just a mile and a half later, in the neighborhood of Griffins Mills.

That's where we spoke to one unlucky homeowner whose property was right in the path of destruction.

"It was dramatic. No one else on the street was like this, so I was happy to be coming home. The road was closed, they let me through, and then I encountered this, and it was pretty shocking,” said John McClory, whose car was crushed by a fallen tree.

Several trees fell around his property during Wednesday's storm.

Excavation crews have been around West Falls all day, clearing up all of the debris left behind by this storm. They say they'll probably be around until this evening, or whenever the job is done.
