BUFFALO, N.Y. — Any Western New Yorkers expecting to fly out of Buffalo on Thursday night, or expecting guests to arrive, will have to arrange other plans thanks to the weather.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning for Cattaraugus, Wyoming and Chautauqua counties lasts until 10 p.m. Thursday. A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for southern Erie County through 1 a.m. Saturday. Northern Erie County and Genesee County also have a Lake Effect Snow Warning from 7 p.m. Thursday through 1 p.m. Sunday..
The Buffalo Niagara International Airport is showing cancellations for both departures and arrivals after 7:16 p.m. Thursday.
That includes arrivals Thursday night and into Friday morning on American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and Frontier Airlines.
Departures are also canceled across the board out of Buffalo beginning at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, and going through at least 7:25 a.m. Friday.
More cancellations are expected throughout the day Friday.
Anyone with travel plans is asked to contact their airline directly to find alternate plans.
A spokesperson for Southwest Airlines provided the following statement to 2 On Your Side:
Currently, Southwest plans to cease operations at BUF only on Friday, November 18. We are still operating some flights today and plan to resume some service on Saturday – conditions permitting, of course!
To assist our BUF Customers, Southwest has posted a Travel Advisory on southwest.com which details the no-fee, flexible rebooking options that are being offered. Customers can rebook via our website, mobile app, or by calling the airline for assistance.
