Buffalo family still displaced from Christmas blizzard after contractor doesn't finish the job

The Morrow family's home was severely damaged during the Christmas 2022 blizzard in Buffalo. There are concerns about a contractor never finishing a job.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — "I'll be damned if I allow anybody else to ever be taken advantage of by another contractor," the words of Buffalo homeowner Tanisha Morrow, still displaced since the December 2022 blizzard during Christmas in Buffalo.

A massive tree fell through the Morrow family's home on Kermit Avenue.

The family was forced to live in a hotel, temporary house and back to a hotel.

Work started on their Kermit Avenue home in this past spring. The Morrow's signed contract with No Limits Construction, owned by Jeremiah Oliver for $171,200.

An initial deposit of $30,000 was given to the contractor. The Morrow family was promised by Oliver, "he said, guaranteed it would take 90 days for me to be in my house."

Oliver told 2 On Your Side "I told her 90 days from when I got the architect's plan."

When asked why he didn't finish the job, he said "they didn't give me more money."

The husband, wife, children, and dog still haven't returned to the home that was gutted.

The homeowners learned there was no permit for the demolition that was performed by the contractor.

The Better Business Bureau recommends paying in installments when dealing with a contractor.

According to the BBB, No Limits Construction Inc, has a one-star review and is "not an accredited business," according to Kat Schmieder, spokesperson for BBB in Upstate NY.

"This is definitely a timely topic, especially as winter is coming here in Western New York. You know, just a really good reminder to people to be on the lookout for someone who may take advantage of you and just be really careful when you are looking to hire a contractor for your next project," Schmieder said.

Another contractor was brought in to rebuild the the interior wall studs and beams, but there is more work to be done with electrical and plumbing since it was gutted by the first contractor.
