Tornado Warning canceled for central Allegany County

A Tornado Warning had been issued for parts of Allegany County until 10:30 p.m. It was canceled early.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Tornado Warning had been issued for central Allegany County until 10:30 p.m. Friday. It was canceled early.

The storm was located eight miles northwest of Wellsville and moving northeast at 20 when the warning was issued.  Friendship, Scio, and Belmont were among the areas in the warning area.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning had been issued for parts of southern Cattaraugus and southwestern Allegany counties until 9:15 p.m. 

This warning has been allowed to expire as the storm has weakened. 

The storm is moving east at 30 mph. Heavy rain and possible winds gusting to 60 mph are possible.

Some of the areas impacted include Salamanca, Olean, and Bolivar. The rest of Western New York, including Buffalo, will continue to pick up periods of rain tonight.
