There's still time to see Perseid Meteor Shower this week in WNY

Mostly clear skies for several nights will provide decent viewing conditions for the annual meteor shower locally.
Storm Team 2 night forecast with Paul Hare for Saturday, August 10.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The annual Perseid Meteor Shower continues to light up the night sky early to mid-week, as it peaks August 12.

The forecast is looking good for viewing the shooting stars Tuesday and Wednesday nights, mainly to partly clear skies.  Comfortable lows around 60 to upper 50s.

This is one of the bigger meteor showers each year with more than 100 shooting stars likely per hour during peak time.  Move to darker areas away from light pollution, and look toward the northeast, although can see shooting stars across much of the sky at times, depending on how large the meteors are.

The meteor shower is named after the constellation Perseus from which the shooting stars appear to radiate from.

Monday night had some spectacular large, bright shooting stars.
