SILVER CREEK, N.Y. — The Village of Silver Creek has lifted a mandatory evacuation order that was issued earlier Friday due to flash flooding.

However, an Area Flood Warning is in effect until 8:30 p.m. as an inch and a half of rainfall has fallen in the area. This means flood prone areas, especially along Silver Creek, will likely take on water tonight. Do not attempt to drive through water covered roads through the duration of the warning.

Residents living on Dana, Rix and Oliver streets are under the mandatory evacuation order.

There is a voluntary evacuation order for residents living on Montgomery and Lincoln streets.

They're asking residents to take extreme caution when evacuation.

The flash flooding was caused by heavy rain. More storms are possible later this evening.

The highest chance for severe storms will be in the Southern Tier, northern Pennsylvania and Genesee Valley. Buffalo and the Falls will likely see thunderstorms, just not as severe.

Storms will end by 9 p.m. Friday.
