BUFFALO, N.Y. — There is another celestial event that you can see in the sky this weekend.

A comet scientifically known C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) can be seen in the western sky soon after sunset.  Look near the horizon as well.

The comet is getting fainter with each passing evening, but it should still be visible in WNY through the weekend, at least. Especially with a phone or binoculars.

C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) can be seen in the western sky soon after sunset.  Look near the horizon as well.

The mainly clear skies will also allow for viewing of the comet each night into the weekend.  The sunset Friday evening locally is at 6:27pm, and Saturday night it will be at 6:25pm.

Our own Storm Team 2 Dan Russell captured this image of the comet with a bit of its tail in view, looking west over Lake Erie during Thursday evening soon after sunset.  Look at the left center of the image.
