Ahead of winter weather, Fredonia warming center opens

The Village Fredonia and Town of Pomfret will open a warming shelter on Thursday.

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Officials in Fredonia have opened a warming center for those in need of a warm place to stay.

The Village of Fredonia and Town of Pomfret will open a warming center at SUNY Fredonia, Williams Center, located on the campus at 301 Old Main Dr.

It will be open on Thursday, January 11 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. to those in need.

All are welcome to the center and will have opportunities to charge their cellphone while there.

Additional days and hours will be updated as they may change.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties until 7 p.m. Thursday for 3 to 5 inches, mainly for the higher elevations east of Lake Erie. Also gusty winds to 50 mph may produce blowing snow that could further reduce visibilities.
