WNY Flood Watches Have Expired

Remnants from tropical storm Fred brought soaking downpours to the region.

The air has a bit of a "tropical" feel to it as the remnants of tropical storm Fred moved through Western New York.

The Finger Lakes and northern Pennsylvania and parts of the Southern Tier were much closer to the storm's path and as a result had a greater risk for widespread heavy rain and potential flooding.

Highest amounts in WNY were near the PA line. Randolph registered 2.96" of rain, nearby Salamanca had 2 and a half inches (as of 10pm Wednesday).

A Flash Flood Watch has EXPIRED in effect for Potter, Allegany and Cattaraugus counties. Rainfall totals to reach 1 to 3 inches.

Rainfall left over from Fred will move off to the east today, but the humidity will remain along with isolated to scattered thunderstorm chances through the end of the week.
