Flash Flood Warning for Allegany County Expires

Heavy rain that moved through caused flash flooding in southwestern Allegany county Monday night.

Flash Flood Warning for southern Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Flash Flood Warning expired for southern Allegany County at 10:30 p.m. Monday night. The Flash Flood Warning for southern Cattaraugus County was canceled.  

Several inches of rain quickly fell there Monday evening with several flash flood reports coming in as the night progressed.

As of 10:30 p.m. Monday night there were still some road closures from flooding and some roads that were partially washed away, especially in the Bolivar and Richburg areas, and in Little Genesee. But any new flood threat was over.

In Little Genesee it was reported Deer Creek Road was partially washed out and impassable due to flooding.

In Bolivar and Richburg, there were flood issues. Debris and boulders were reported on Richburg Hill Road, water flowing into a home on Prospect Street, and Flooding on Salt Rising Road and Pleasant Valley Road, according to the National Weather Service Buffalo Office storm reports.  And flooding on route 275 (main street) in Richburg. Also flash flooding on County Road 5A in the Town of Genesee.

The Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Wyoming County until 7:30 p.m. Monday evening was canceled. But the area did get 1.5 to 3 inches of rain that evening which caused some flood issues there. The National Weather Service reported of areas along Park Road in Castile were closed due to water flowing across it (coming in from the local Park/Forest Service).
