HENDERSON, N.Y. — An earthquake shook parts of Upstate New York late Friday night.
The USGS National Earthquake Information Center reported that the 3.4 magnitude earthquake occurred near Henderson, New York.
The quake's epicenter was located in eastern Lake Ontario and was registered at 11:45 p.m.
People as far south as Syracuse and Oswego, and as far north as Kingston, Ontario, reported feeling the quake, according to the Geological Survey's community intensity map.
The region is not known for seismic activity although more often earthquakes are reported in the Adirondack region.
The next most recent quake that shook Henderson occurred in Ellisburg, N.Y., almost one year ago to the day but was half the strength.
