BUFFALO, N.Y. — Despite the recent recent wave of cooler temperatures for mid-August, it has been a warm and active summer. There is a good chance the fall months will also be warm overall.
The first day of fall climatologically is Sept. 1.
The climatological fall months are September, October, and November. It appears those months overall have a 60 percent chance of above average temperatures, based on the Seasonal Temperature Outlook by the Climate Prediction Center.
As for rain this fall, there is an equal chance of above or below average rainfall, based on the Seasonal Precipitation Outlook.
Looking ahead into winter, the chances of above average precipitation goes up. Storm Team 2 will have its annual Winter Outlook coming out later this fall.
