ALLEGANY COUNTY, N.Y. — The wind damage across WNY has caused many trees and power lines to fall, and Allegany County is still experiencing severe conditions.
Allegany County has been experiencing severe winds since the weather warning began on Tuesday, January 9.
An advisory was put into place and today it remains in effect. Several towns in the area are without power due to transmission lines being down.
Several areas like Clarksville, Friendship, and Richburg are open to those residents in need of services such as warming and charging stations in the local town fire halls.
Allegany County officials say that their Emergency Services has been monitoring the outages & conditions and will be keeping up with the County Administration for further issues.
Community members have been assisted by both fire and EMS officials as notified to those in vulnerable states.
Chairman of the Board, W. Brooke Harris, says that those working have been doing a great job. "We have been in contact with them throughout the night," Harris said.
While the advisory continues, town crew members are working with the sewer and water plants as well as working on clearing the roads of fallen trees.
Allegany County is updating information on their Office of Emergency Management Facebook page on the local outage status which can be viewed below.
County officials advises the community to check on your friends and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable.
If you are on oxygen and running low they said to "please contact your distributors as they are now open. If you have an emergency, please call 911."
