CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — If you live near the Buffalo Niagara National Airport, you may notice a change in flight patterns this summer.
Runway 5-23 at the airport will be under construction from Monday, May 8 through September 2023.
The NFTA, who manages the airport, says the renovations are part of planned maintenance to that airport's primary runaway, which includes centerline lighting and taxiway improvements.
Those living in the area of the airport may notice planes using alternative flight paths more frequently and sound patterns will temporarily change.
The majority of the construction work will take place during the day, but there may be some occasional overnight work when there are few or no scheduled flights.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the construction, you can submit them to the NFTA here: https://www.buffaloairport.com/about/523
