There's now a zodiac license plate for every New York driver under the stars

The images on each plate will be familiar to zodiac enthusiasts who wish to switch it up from the state's standard options.

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State is offering another way for you to show pride in your zodiac sign.

The state's Department of Motor Vehicles on Wednesday announced a new series of license plates, featuring the 12 zodiac signs. They're the latest additions to a lineup that already includes more than 200 custom plates.

"Custom plates are a way for New Yorkers to express their many interests," Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner and Sagittarius Mark J.F. Schroeder said in a statement, announcing the news.

"The DMV recognizes that every customer is unique, and we support that by having a variety of custom plate options to choose from."

The images on each plate will be familiar to zodiac enthusiasts — such as twins for the Gemini plate, a lion for the Leo plate, and fish for the Pisces plate — who wish to switch it up from the state's standard options. Phases of the moon add more detail along the bottom of each plate, and stars circle each zodiac image on the left side.

The cost is similar to what New Yorkers pay for other custom plates. The initial fee is $60, with an annual renewal costing $31.25. For personalized custom plates, it's $91.25 to start with the renewal costing $62.50.

You can order the New York zodiac custom plates by visiting the DMV website, reaching out by mail, or calling the state Custom Plates office at 518-402-4838.

If the zodiac plates aren't for you, don't worry, there are a couple hundred options from which to choose — sports teams, military and veterans, colleges, causes, professions, organizations, and much more.
