Multiple roads closed as parts of WNY deal with flooding

Numerous roads are closed due to the roads flooding caused by snow melt and heavy rain overnight.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Snow melt and heavy rains have caused many roadways around parts of Western New York to be closed due to flooding. 

Flood Warning remains in effect for parts of Niagara and Erie counties until 1:15 PM this afternoon. Rain and snow melt could cause some local flooding on area creeks and streams and in low line areas.

NITTEC has announced the road closures due to flooding as follows:

  • Mineral Springs Road closed in both directions at Brian Lane in West Seneca because of flooding.
  • Route 266 North is closed from Sawyer Avenue to Grand Island Boulevard in Tonawanda.
  • Route 266 South is closed from Grand Island Boulevard to Sawyer Avenue in Tonawanda.
  • Garlow Road is closed from Mt Hope Road to Upper Mountain Road in Lewiston.

Those headed out are advised to drive carefully as crews work to fix the issues.

Starpoint Elementary Schools K-5 have closed Thursday as they experience issues of flooding.

Several side streets may also have flooding issues, and officials urge motorists to use caution.
