Some roadways closed due to accidents, power outages caused by high winds

A High Wind Warning was in effect until 4 p.m. Friday for Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — There were several road closures in the area due to accidents or power outages caused by high winds. 

A High Wind Warning was in effect until 4 p.m. Friday for Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties. Those warning were allowed to expire at 4 p.m.

A Wind Advisory remained in effect until 8 p.m. for Allegany County. Another Wind Advisory remained in effect until 6 p.m. for Potter and McKean counties in Pennsylvania.

New York State Police tweeted out Friday afternoon that there was an Empty Trailer Ban in effect on I-90 from Exit 46 Henrietta to Exit 61 Pennsylvania State line and the entire I-190 due to a high wind advisory. 

Route 130 eastbound and westbound was closed from Dick Road to Borden Road in the Village of Depew because of utility crews in the area making repairs. 

The I-190 south was closed at the Niagara Street exit (8) to the Elm Street exit (6) due to an accident. 

Route 5 (Skyway) in both directions from Church Street in downtown Buffalo to Ridge Road in Lackawanna was also closed due to high winds.
