Pedestrian killed in Main Street accident

A 54-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing Main Street in Amherst early Tuesday morning.

AMHERST, N.Y. — A 54-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing Main Street in Amherst early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on Main Street near Youngs Road just before 6:30 a.m. 

Investigators say Theresa Garcia, of Buffalo, was struck by a 2005 Buick driven by a 65-year-old man for Alden.  

Garcia was taken to ECMC, where she died of her injuries. 

Police are still investigating the accident. A portion of Main Street was closed while police investigated the accident, but has since reopened. They're checking nearby businesses for video of the accident. They're also asking anyone that may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 716-689-1311.
