Part of eastbound Kensington Expressway closes at 11 a.m.

Route 33 from downtown to Delavan Street will close for bridge assessment after it was hit by a truck on Wednesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thursday morning, the New York State Department of Transportation announced that a section of the eastbound Kensington Expressway will close at 11 a.m.

Route 33 from downtown to Delavan Street will close for bridge assessment of the Dodge Street overpass after it was hit by a truck on Wednesday.  

Effective immediately, the following will be closed:

  • The eastbound entrance ramps to the Kensington Expressway will be closed at Genesee Street/Elm Street, Tupper Street, Cherry Street and Jefferson Avenue.  Motorists traveling eastbound can enter the Kensington Expressway at Delavan Street.

Dodge Street will be reduced to one lane of alternate traffic. Drivers should be prepared for access to be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

On Wednesday the eastbound 33 was closed to all traffic for multiple hours because of the accident.
