Intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard in North Tonawanda to close Monday for railroad crossing repairs

The closure at Erie Avenue and Shawnee Road is expected to last three days.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Drivers need to be aware of some route changes because of an intersection closure in North Tonawanda.

On Monday, the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard (U.S. Route 62) at Erie Avenue and Shawnee Road (State Route 425) in the City of North Tonawanda will close at 8 a.m., according to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

The closure will be to repair the railroad crossing by CSX. NYSDOT estimates the closure will last for three days, weather permitting. 

Traffic along Niagara Falls Boulevard and Shawnee Road will be diverterted out to Campbell Boulevard. And traffic along Erie Avenue will be directed along a detour on Niagara Falls Boulevard and Nash Road.

NYSDOT encourages drivers to plan extra time to get to destinations along this route.
