Folks enjoy the solar eclipse in WNY

The eclipse only lasted about three minutes and 45 seconds but it was almost a century in the making and millions across WNY gathered to take in totality.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Today's the day for the Great American Solar Eclipse and Buffalo is in the path of totality.

There were several watch parties planned, including in Niagara Falls, the Buffalo Outer Harbor, and Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo.

Thousands were expected to travel to Buffalo and Western New York, potentially causing traffic jams.   However, prior to totality, there were no major traffic issues to report. The biggest traffic issue was folks coming into the US from Canada.

The eclipse only lasted about three minutes and 45 seconds but it was almost a century in the making and millions across Western New York gathered to take in totality.

Despite a few challenges, folks tell 2 On Your Side they'll never forget.

Folks gathered at Niagara Falls State Park, Outer Habor, and Jamestown.

Now this truly was once in a lifetime experience here in WNY.
