HAWK signal installed on Main Street in Williamsville

A new traffic signal, designed to improve safety for pedestrians, is up and running in the Village of Williamsville.

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY-- A new traffic signal, designed to improve safety for pedestrians, is up and running in the Village of Williamsville.

You've probably heard of the HAWK signals, that stands for High Intensity Activated Crosswalk.

One is now operational to help pedestrians trying to cross Main Street near the village library.

Remember, drivers can proceed as normal when it's not lit up. When the lights turn yellow, prepare to stop. Once the two top lights turn red... stop. When the red lights start to blink, that means you should stop, check to see if the crosswalk is clear, and then you can proceed.

Pedestrians should follow their crossing signal.
