Though gas prices have been at a steady decrease, oil prices have had a fluctuation of increases. The Energy Information Administration shared new data saying that the flat oil prices is what has been keeping gas prices on the decline.
Head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick De Haan, says that the downward trend in gas prices comes from the downside in temperature status. "For now, that trend will likely mean further declines in the weeks ahead, before prices bottom out between Thanksgiving and Christmas," Haan said.
While the price of gas has gone down some, the price of diesel has gone up slightly. The national average price for diesel is $4.50 per gallon, but it is still down considerably since last year when the price was $5.33.
