BUFFALO, N.Y. — There has been small changes to gas prices at the national level and across Western New York, according to data from AAA.

While low oil prices has kept keep gas prices stable, the approaching July 4 holiday will likely lead to higher gas prices. AAA is forecasting that 43.2 million people will be hitting the road, which is a 2.4% increase from last year and a 4% increase from 2019 at pre-pandemic levels.
Diesel prices are significantly lower than last year. The average national price is $3.88 a gallon and the New York State average is $4.43.
AAA also notes that drivers should make sure their vehicle's tire pressure is at the recommended level to achieve the best gas mileage. Drivers should also remove any unnecessary and bulky items from their vehicles because it takes more fuel to accelerate a heavy vehicle.
