BUFFALO, N.Y. — Drivers in Western New York and across the country are seeing gas price drop slightly, according to data from AAA.
The average price of a gallon of gas in Buffalo is $3.44, which is one cent less than last week. In Batavia, gas prices are currently at $3.43, one cents lower than the week before. The average price in Rochester also down two cents from last week to $3.51 a gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gas has fell four cents from last week to $3.47. Across New York State, the average price of gas has fallen one cent to $3.56. A year ago the state average was $3.59 and the national $3.44.
The average diesel fuel prices in New York State has remained the same as last week at $5.27 a gallon. A year ago the average price in the state was $3.91. Nationally, the average price of diesel is $4.68, up 6 cents.
AAA also notes that drivers should make sure their vehicle's tire pressure is at the recommended level to achieve the best gas mileage. Drivers should also remove any unnecessary and bulky items from their vehicles because it takes more fuel to accelerate a heavy vehicle.
