BUFFALO, N.Y. — You won't be seeing any construction going on this weekend in New York State.
Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday announced that all construction-related lane closures are going to be suspended. The road and bridge construction project lane closures began Friday morning and run through Tuesday morning.
The governor says the suspensions are to help ease the travel throughout the weekend.
"Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer season, and many New Yorkers will be traveling across the state," Hochul said in a statement. "We are suspending construction on state roads to ensure the safety of our motorists and help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely. We all need to do our part and be alert when driving, obey the speed limit, and move over for emergency service vehicles as needed."
