GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — You can expect temporary closures and traffic shifts on the South Grand Island Bridges this weekend.
The northbound side of the bridge will be closed to all traffic starting at 9 p.m. Friday and running through 9 a.m. Saturday. The southbound side will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday.
The closures will allow crews to complete structural inspections required every two years. If you're going to pass through Grand Island this weekend, you should expect moderate delays.
"Motorists are urged to be alert and follow the posted work zone speed limits," the New York State Department of Transportation said in a statement, adding that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
