1 person in custody following accident that closed 33 West for some time

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A crash closed the 33 West for some time as commuters attempted to get downtown on a busy Friday night.

Buffalo Police took one person into custody for driving while intoxicated, and two others were taken to Erie County Medical Center with minor injuries, according to a city spokesperson.

The crash happened sometime past 7 p.m. Friday. The 33 West was closed from Best Street down to Jefferson Avenue. NITTEC officially reported the 33 West as closed at 7:56 p.m.

Cars were being directed to exit the 33 at the Best Street exit, allowing commuters to then find alternate routes to get to their destination.

The road reopened around 8:40 p.m., according to NITTEC.
