Earth Day: Botanical Gardens urge people to reduce, reuse, and recycle

Learning stations were set up throughout the gardens, teaching families about the importance of pollinators, recycling, and reducing your carbon footprint.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is teaching Western New York residents the importance of the 3 R's — reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The gardens on Sunday hosted an Earth Day celebration. Learning stations were set up throughout the gardens, teaching families about the importance of pollinators, recycling, and reducing your carbon footprint.

"We're calling it Plants Around the Planet. It's a fun way to explore all 12 of our iconic greenhouses and see plants from all around the world, but then also learn a little bit about how we can celebrate earth, and help protect it," Connor Keenan, marketing coordinator at the Botanical Gardens, told 2 On Your Side.

The Botanical Gardens are open every day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
