Global tech outage impacts travel at the Buffalo airport

Travelers in the Buffalo area experienced cancellations and delays in the aftermath of the worldwide outage.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — The impact of the global tech outage is still being felt at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Airline kiosks were met with long lines after the outage affected check-in and booking services.

The biggest impact of the global outage happened this morning as travelers in the buffalo area experienced a handful of delays and cancellations due to ground stops put in place for American, Delta, and United.

Although the ground stops have since been lifted and most flights at the airport are taking off as scheduled, there are still many passengers waiting for flights that have been delayed for hours.

“We arrived at the airport at 11 for a flight at 12:30 flight. Unfortunately because of the software issue, the flight was canceled, and I am now on a 6:48 flight stopping in Charlotte,” Lana Anker said.

While things are up and running at the Buffalo airport, the NFTA is still advising travelers to save some time and check flight statuses online before heading to the airport.

As this shortage is still impacting destinations on a national and global scale.
