LEWISTON, N.Y. — Niagara University released a statement on Tuesday saying the school is finalizing changes to the leadership of the women's soccer program.

Peter Veltri had spent the past 26 seasons as the head coach of the Niagara women’s soccer program. He was just the fifth coach selected to lead the program.

According to his biography on the Purple Eagles webpage, Veltri led Niagara to over 200 wins during his tenure, including the program's only MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006.

After beginning the season 2-1 this year, and coming off a seventh-straight bid to the MAAC Women's Soccer Championship, it is not clear why Veltri is no longer with the team.

2 On Your Side has reached out to Niagara University and is waiting for a comment on the matter.
