BUFFALO, N.Y. — There are several Western New Yorkers in Paris for the Olympics, and we want to make it easy for you to cheer them on.
We are highlighting four athletes who are in France to compete in this year's summer games and a coach. They include several serious medal contenders.
Going alphabetically, we start with artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez. The Kenmore native is back for her third Olympics after finishing 13th in the duet category in Tokyo, just missing the finals.
Alvarez makes her Paris debut in the team technical routine on August 5 at 1:30 p.m. on Peacock. As of today's schedule, the first time you'll be able to see her on Channel 2 is August 7 at 5 p.m. competing in the team acrobatic routine.
Matt Anderson, in his fourth Olympics, is also no stranger to representing Team U.S.A. The 37-year-old West Seneca West grad was the youngest player on the 2012 U.S. Men's Olympic Volleyball Team and earned a bronze in Rio.
You can watch Anderson compete this Saturday at 3 p.m. when the U.S. takes on Argentina on the USA Network.
Skip Kielt is coaching Team U.S.A.'s Men's Double Sculls Rowing Team. He's a Saint Joe's alum and is married to Olympic rower Meghan Musnicki. He currently coaches at the California Rowing Club.
To see Kielt in action at the team's first event in France, you'll have to get up early. It's on the USA Network at 3 a.m. this Saturday.
Meghan Musnicki is a four-time Olympian who earned two golds in rowing in 2012 and 2016. She is from Naples, New York just south of Canadaigua, and at 41 will become the oldest woman to ever represent Team U.S.A. in the sport.
Musnicki competes first on Monday at 3:30 a.m. on Peacock, but you can also see her on August 3 at 3:45 p.m. on Channel 2.
Finally, tennis player Jessica Pegula is back for her second Olympics. The Buffalo native will compete in women's singles and doubles where she's paired with Coco Gauff.
Pegula is part of the group starting competition Saturday at 7 a.m. on Peacock.
