Buffalo native coaches USA team as they head to semifinals

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo native made his way to Paris for the Olympics this summer as a coach for the U.S. Men's Double Sculls Rowing team.

Nathanael 'Skip' Kielt was born and raised in Buffalo and graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. Following his college graduation from Rutgers, he began coaching at Canisius University. 

Kielt is now currently coaching at the California Rowing Club, and resides in California with his wife, Meghan Musnicki of Canandaigua. Musnicki will be competing in the second heat of women's eight on Monday.

The couple is together in Paris where Kielt coached the USA team that will be moving forward in the Olympic games.

The team, including Ben Davison and Sorin Koszyk, ranked third place in the first heat and will be making their way to the semifinals.

Davison on stroke and Koszyk on bow finished with a time of 6:16.48, just +2.35 behind the Netherlands team who placed first, according to the NBC Olympics website.
