PARIS, France — Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff won their opening doubles match of the Olympics on Saturday afternoon.
The first-ranked pair defeated Australia's Ellen Perez and Daria Saville in straight sets, sending them to the second round of the women's doubles tennis competition.
Both pairs averaged around 60 percent completion rate on the first serve, but Gauff/Pegula's 95 percent completion rate on the second serve helped lift them to victory.
Perez/Saville racked up seven total faults during the two sets of the match, compared to Gauff/Pegula's singular fault which also assisted the duo to the next round.
The second-round schedule has not been announced due to ongoing first-round competitions.
