The pursuit of a gold might have ended for West Seneca native Matt Anderson and the U.S. men's volleyball team, but an Olympic medal remains in their grasp.

WEST SENECA, N.Y. — The pursuit of a gold medal might have ended for West Seneca native Matt Anderson and the U.S. Men's Volleyball Team, but a medal remains in their grasp.

Team USA has an opportunity Friday morning to bring a second medal back to Western New York. The men take on Italy in the bronze medal match, starting at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

The Americans' only loss of the tournament came Wednesday in the semifinals against Poland. The United States entered the fourth set up 2-1, but eventually lost in five sets.

In a post on his Instagram feed on Thursday, Anderson said he's excited and grateful to play for an Olympic medal and added, "Let's give it all we got one last time, boys!"

Anderson's family and friends will host one final Olympics watch party Friday morning, at Hamburg Taproom: Just Pizza & Wing Company, at 4170 Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg.
