WEST SENECA, N.Y. — West Seneca native Matt Anderson and the Team USA volleyball team is receiving plenty of support, both overseas at the 2024 Paris Olympics and back home in Western New York.
Anderson, who routinely posts to Instagram, published another post, this one featuring his biggest fans — his son Jamie and his daughter Juno — holding cutouts of their dad's head. They're also wearing red, white and blue sneakers that read "Anderson" on one side and "#1 Daddy" on the other side.
While some of his family is there in person to watch all the action, here in Western New York, friends and family are holding watch parties for every Team USA game. The next Group C men's volleyball game — a date with Japan — will be at 3 p.m. Eastern time Friday, and the watch party will be at Duff's at 3090 Orchard Park Road.
If you cannot make it to the party, you can watch Anderson and Team USA live at home on Friday afternoon on the USA Network or Peacock.
Anderson recently spoke in Paris earlier this week about the challenges Team USA volleyball has faced, and how they've overcame those obstacles to win both matches.
"They turned it on the third and fourth set, put a lot more pressure on us passing, and you know, they spiked the ball really well in that third and fourth set," Anderson said.
"And then we flipped the script again in the fifth there, with Max (Holt) going back. It was kind of tight, and Max went back to serve and kind of opened it up, served really well, put a lot of pressure on them, so great teamwork."
