After being on the verge of elimination, the Brazilian men's volleyball team has won gold in a comeback.
They won against Italy (25-22, 28-26, 26-24) in front of a packed Maracanãzinho arena, according to Tony Andracki of NBC Olympics.
The Brazilians were on the verge of being eliminated during the preliminary rounds, when they needed a win over France to make it into quarterfinals in the final Pool A spot.
Brazil's wins kept coming from there. The team rounded out its Olympic comeback Sunday by winning its final eight sets, finishing as world champions.
