BUFFALO, N.Y. — The injury bug infecting the Sabres lineup isn't going anywhere just yet.
The team has been without goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and their top-goal scorer Tage Thompson for the last two games.
Forward Jordan Greenway missed the Sabres most recent game against the Flyers on Saturday night and is now considered week to week with a mid-body injury. He will not be making the trip out west.
Head Coach Lindy Ruff also confirmed on Monday that forward Alex Tuch is dealing with an ailment and his status for Wednesday's game will depend on how he is feeling at practice on Tuesday.
Thompson, who was initially projected to be ready for Wednesday's meeting against the Kings, had a good day at practice on Monday, according to Ruff, but is not 100% healthy just yet.
“Every injury is different," Thompson said. "I feel like with what I’ve got going on now, I've had similar in the past. It's one of those ones where I'm better off missing 3, 4 games instead of trying to play through it, making it worse and missing 10,15. You want to be there like I said, helping the team win and it sucks watching from up top. It just makes you itch more to get back out there.”
On a positive note, Ruff stated that Luukkonen is doing great and will be ready to go on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
“I feel like I wasn't playing 100% in the Montreal game and you know you can't let that happen," Ukko-Pekka Luukkonnen said. "You just want to be 100% and you want to feel great and I feel like I'm at that point now.”
Due to the number of injuries building in the lineup, the Sabres have recalled Isak Rosen from the Amerks and have loaned goaltender Devon Levi to Rochester.
"We gotta get him some games," Ruff said. "Get him playing. It'll be the best thing for him."
The team will now look to kick off a three-game road trip out west on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings.
