Former Sabre Tyler Ennis retires from professional hockey

Ennis played in 700 NHL games, spending over half of his time in the league with the Sabres.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Former Buffalo Sabre Tyler Ennis announced he is retiring from professional hockey.

Ennis was drafted by the Sabres in the first round of the 2008 NHL Draft. He would then go on to play 700 total games in the NHL, with 419 of them being played with Buffalo.

During the span of his career in the NHL, Ennis scored 144 goals and tallied 346 points. 

His most memorable goal during his time with the Sabres was during game five of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals as Ennis scored the game-winning goal in overtime to put the Sabres up 3-2 in the series against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ennis finished his time in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators before heading overseas to finish out his professional hockey run in Europe.
