BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson, who has missed the team's last five games due to a lower-body injury, is expected to play on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild.
Thompson confirmed the news after practice on Tuesday, saying he is ready to play.
“I feel good," Thompson said. "I had a good day today and I’m ready to go tomorrow.”
Head Coach Lindy Ruff ultimately kept Thompson out of the lineup during the team's West Coast road trip as Buffalo had a tight schedule due to a back-to-back game scenario with the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks.
“It’s smart for sure to take an extra few days, especially where our team was at – hot on the road and feeling good about the game,” Thompson said. “It was more of a precautionary thing, making sure I was 100 [percent], ready to go and not stepping in too early, re-aggravating it.”
The Sabres star forward has 11 goals and seven assists in 16 games so far this season and looks to help continue the team's overall success as of late.
Buffalo is now 11-9-1 on the year so far and currently sits in fourth place of the Atlantic Division at the time of publication for this article.
They face Minnesota on Wednesday night for their first of two home games this week. Puck drop for that game is set for 7 p.m.
The Vancouver Canucks will pay a visit to Buffalo on Friday at 3 p.m. before the Sabres head back on the road Saturday to take on the New York Islanders.
