BUFFALO, N.Y. — As Buffalo Sabres captain Kyle Okposo gets ready to play in his 1,000th NHL game, the team announced their plans to honor the team leader.
On Sunday, the team posted to social media that the first 10,000 fans in attendance on Tuesday's 11/14 game versus Boston will receive a miniature replica of the silver stick given to players who reach the 1,000-game milestone.
Before the Sabres take on the Bruins, the team will also hold a pregame ceremony for the captain in celebration of achieving the career milestone.
Okposo's career spans over the course of 17 NHL seasons, playing for both the Sabres and New York Islanders. He will become the 46th active player in the league to accomplish the 1,000th game mark.
The last Buffalo Sabre to do this was Jason Pominville in November of 2018.
