Billionaire B. Thomas Golisano, who was said to be in the running to purchase the Buffalo Bills football team, said Monday he was pleased that Terry and Kim Pegula were selected as the buyers.
"The Bills are great. I'm happy for Terry Pegula," Golisano said outside a Monroe County courtroom, where he was waiting for hearing on a lawsuit he filed challenging the property assessment of his summer home in Mendon.
"My primary concern is that they stay in Buffalo, and Terry convinced me that he was going to be in there, so that was it," he said.
"Terry's happy. I'm happy they're in Buffalo. They're 2-0," he said, referring to the team's early-season won-loss record. "I was very concerned that Terry was not going to be a bidder. But he was."
Asked if he would have any involvement in the team's exploration of a new stadium, Golisano indicated he would not.
"I would have a real problem with that," he said, referring to a new stadium. Golisano noted that $130 million, most of New York or Erie County money, had just been spending to renovate Ralph Wilson Stadium.
